The Western Region kicked of the 2022 Barefoot Tournament Season at the beautiful Diablo Shores in Brentwood, California in celebration of Jerry Kanawyer’s 60th birthday. The local Bay Area Skiers: Andrew Martin, William Farrell & Jerry Kanawyer were joined by members of the Lake Silverado Team: Doug Jordan, Joe & Lynae Lovato and Ted & Vicki Klein who all made the trek from Washington and Oregon.
A mild summer day set the scene for a fun day on the water with excellent conditions and some good skiing. Special thanks go out to Tim Pellaton and Mark Bergthold who provided the driving and officiating. Gary Butler came out to show his support and share his stories.
Jerry’s family and friends turned out to celebrate the big 6-0, including his 102-year-old grandmother, all of whom enjoyed the camaraderie of the skiers, the good food, and watching the skiing. It was a great opportunity to see old friends and to share stories. Thanks go out to Jerry & Tracy for hosting the event.
The Western Region looks forward to its next tournament, the Silverado Challenge July 9th & 10th in Adna, Washington, the site of the previous 2006 World Barefoot Championships. Hope to see you there!
