As of May 18, 2020, USA Water Ski & Wake Sports has resumed sanctioned activity for practices, exhibitions, basic skills clinics, and tournaments.
The American Barefoot Board of Directors met via Zoom on May 21, 2020 to discuss the 2020 Barefoot Nationals and other Barefoot events this summer. They decided the ABC will go forward with events with some guidelines geared just for barefooters.
Things are going to look very different this year and we all need to roll with it!
The ABC COVID19 Guidelines are very similar to the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports with minor revisions. Please read the Barefoot Guidelines HERE. In addition to following the guidelines, every official and skier will need to sign a COVID19 Waiver. Check that out HERE.
The ABC Board also decided that if for any reason any regional tournament is not held, skiers from that region will still be able to ski at Nationals. Contact your Regional Directors for details.
Official USA-WSWS Guidance:
It is the responsibility of each host club and/or local organizing committee to abide by all public health authorities and local and state government guidelines when determining to host an event in their area.
Individual water ski activity is considered low risk for COVID-19 transmission; however, the circumstances around COVID-19 are changing constantly.
In addition to event waivers, tournament organizers must have officials and skiers sign the COVID19 Competition Waiver.
High-risk individuals, including older adults and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus and are recommended to avoid sanctioned activity involving groups at this time.
