USA Junior Barefoot Team Member Megan Adams wins the 2020 Barb Knight Junior Girls Athletic Grant

It is quite a year for Megan Adams.

In addition to being chosen for the 2020 USA Junior Barefoot Team, capturing multiple personal best scores in slalom, tricks and jump and killing it in the 2020 IWWF Junior World Video Tournament, she has been awarded the first annual Barb Knight Junior Girls Athletic Grant.

“I am so happy and honored to receive this scholarship… I just love barefoot water skiing.  And that this is a grant just for junior girls is pretty cool,” says Megan.

Megan Award
Megan was presented the Barb Knight Grant from Regional Director Sean Qualey in a ceremony at the 2020 Midwest Regional Tournament.

Barb Knight  passed away on September 19, 2019.  To honor Barb and the positive influence she had on the sport, loving members of her barefoot family have established a $500 annual grant in her name.

This grant is intended to assist junior girls with costs associated with the sport of barefoot water skiing, such as lessons, equipment, travel costs, tournament registration, etc.

Barb Knight Scholarship

“I think I am going to buy new padded shorts or a new front toe handle and use the rest of the money to train in Florida on Spring Break,” says Megan

Megan never met Barb, but she knows how Barb supported other women and girls in barefoot water skiing,  Barb was such a force on the dock and behind the boat. We are so happy Barb is being memorialized in this way!

To apply for the grant or donate toward it for future years, please fill out this Scholarship Application – Form and email to Shannon Klahn.  DUE JULY 1, 2021!

We have a selection committee made up of women barefooters to pick the winner!
